Mental Illness is significantly more common in individuals with I/DD than in the typically developing population. Unfortunately, many professionals are not equipped to recognize symptoms and resources tend to be hard to find. In this presentation, Dr. Alison O’Connor, will go over some common risk factors, symptoms to look out for, and ways to get help. Dr. Alison O’Connor is a licensed psychologist and board certified behavior analyst who specializes in working with individuals who are dually-diagnosed with an I/DD and a psychiatric disorder. She is currently the Director of Clinical Supports at The Arc, Ocean County Chapter and has a small private practice, Fern Psychological Services, where she sees patients virtually. She spends all her free time loving her three wild pups.
