Navigating the Medicaid System
Welcome to The Arc Information Center's Medicaid Navigation Tool. This tool was developed to help you to determine which form of Medicaid may be the most appropriate for you. The Tool will ask a series of questions which will lead to a description of the form of Medicaid which most directly meets your needs.
Please note that this Tool looks at Medicaid for individuals over the age of 18. If you are looking to apply for Medicaid for an individual under the age of 18, please click here to go to The NJ Division of Medical Assistance & Health Services website to read more.
An important factor in applying for SSI as an avenue to Medicaid, is the asset limit. An asset limit is the amount of countable resources in the person's name. If you are applying for SSI, that asset limit is $2,000 for an individual and $3,000 for a couple. To see more about what resources contribute to the asset limit, click here. If you are looking to apply for SSI, your assets must be below the limit or you will not qualify.
